By What About Now?
Something that I think a lot of people don’t understand is this:
Writing is something I do for me.
My podcast is something I do for me.
After years of being silent — years of keeping everything to myself and hiding who I really was — I’ve finally found my voice. And I’ve realised I’m allowed to use it.
This Isn’t About Anyone Else
Most of what I write or say isn’t aimed at anyone in particular.
It’s written from lived experience. It’s my truth.
And nothing I’ve ever shared has been out of spite or revenge. It’s never been about calling someone out.
I do this for me.
I share it to help others.
To let someone out there know they’re not alone — not in the way I’ve felt most of my life.
And maybe, if I’m being completely honest, I share it because I want people to know the real me.
Not the version I tried to convince everyone I was.
Not the mask I wore so well.
But the real me — the one I’m still getting to know myself.
I Stayed Quiet for Too Long
For a long time, I stayed quiet.
I protected people who didn’t deserve to be protected.
I convinced myself I didn’t need to speak my truth — because I believed the pain I was carrying was deserved.
I put everyone else’s feelings above my own.
I let my name be dragged through the mud while others walked away untouched.
I let people attack my character — and I said nothing.
I let others tell my story — and I didn’t correct them, even when they left out the parts that mattered most.
And the worst part?
I walked away from so many situations knowing I was handing people the chance to tell my story however they saw fit.
And I still said nothing.
Because I believed I didn’t deserve to be heard.
I Thought I Was the Villain
I’ve let people believe I was the villain.
Because deep down, I thought I was too.
I thought: bad things happen to bad people.
And when something went wrong, I didn’t even question it. I just assumed it was what I deserved.
Someone once said to me, “If I told you the things you’re telling me — what would you say to me?”
And I replied, “It’s different. You don’t deserve it. I do.”
That’s how I’ve always felt.
But I’m starting to realise now… that’s not true.
I’m Done Protecting the Wrong People
I’m tired.
Tired of keeping quiet.
Tired of protecting the people who hurt me.
Tired of putting myself last.
Tired of letting others rewrite my story while I sit in the background, silent.
So no — I won’t be silent anymore.
You might have heard a version of my story.
But it wasn’t mine.
The people who are willing to tell my story behind my back?
They won’t give you the full picture.
They’ll tell you what I did — not why.
They’ll give you the headline — and leave out the truth.
They might paint me out to be the big bad wolf.
You might even believe them.
But here’s the thing:
That says more about you than it does about me.
Final Thoughts
I write because I need to.
I speak because I’ve been quiet for too long.
I share because I don’t want others to feel the way I did — voiceless, shamed, misunderstood.
This isn’t about blame.
This is about truth.
This is about me.
So from now on — I speak.
Not to hurt anyone.
Not to fight back.
But because I deserve to be heard.
And if that makes people uncomfortable?
So be it.
